Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America- provide children with one to one mentoring to support them in achieving their potential.The Big Brothers/ Big Sisters Mission is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships.
The oldest and largest youth mentoring organization in the United States; it matches caring adults with more than 200,000 children, ages five-to-18 years old. These children are from single and two-parent homes, and from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds. It has been proven that Little Brothers and Sisters are less likely to begin using illegal drugs, consume alcohol, skip school and classes, or engage in acts of violence. They have greater self-esteem, confidence in their schoolwork performance, and are able to get along better with their friends and families.The Amachi Big Brothers Big Sisters program, matches children of incarcerated parents with adults who are members of religious congregations, usually in the child's neighborhood.
